Daniel Fischer received his Ph.D. from the University of Luxembourg in 2009. In 2010, he joined the European Space Agency as a Data System Manager within ESA’s ground segment engineering department. In this role he was responsible for the development, deployment, and operation of mission control and security systems for the Copernicus Sentinel fleet of earth observation spacecraft. In 2016, he became the Head of the Ground Segment Engineering Support Section where he is now focusing on end-to-end system engineering activities related to the ESA space missions ground segment, in particular related to information security, model-based system engineering and knowledge management.
